Local Elementary School Children Trained in “I AM SAFETY SMART PROGRAM”
On November 21, 2012, AL Parris, Education Committee Chairman of the NC Ellis Cannady Chapter, IAEI, and Braxton Tanner, Chief Building Inspector of the Nash County North Carolina Inspection Department and IAEI member, conducted an “I am Safety Smart” course. Nash County Fire Marshal Scott Rogers assisted. “I am Safety Smart” is an educational safety program being presented by International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) and Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL), both of which are not-for-profit organizations dedicated to public safety. The class was held at the Nashville Elementary School in Nashville, North Carolina. There were 106 4th grade students that attended who are now aware of what electricity is and what it can do.
Our core mission is to build a safer world. We believe this can be accomplished by cultivating safety-conscious generations to make safety smart decisions within their homes, their communities, and their schools. As public servants, we are committed to protect the public from unintentional harm, risks and hazard, our desire is to teach our children safety consciousness.
